Soothe Your Puppy’s Teething
Every puppy needs to go through the “teething stage” wherein his deciduous or baby teeth will be replaced by stronger teeth. Similar to humans, the teeth that grow during this period will become permanent. Teething helps relieve the discomfort associated with the replacement, it is natural and you should not interfere with the process.
However, as every pet owner knows, their canine friend will be struggling during this stage because of the discomfort associated with it. This can pose a problem for the pet owner because the puppy will chew on everything anything. Below are some tips that will enable you to help your puppy during this time:
1. Hide or get rid of anything that is tempting to him– the puppy will be tempted to chew of items including your shoes and electrical wiring.
2. If you discover bite marks on important items including books, don’t immediately shout at him unless you catch him in the act of chewing. If you do, he will have no idea about why you’re so angry at him.
3. Give him a mouth massage – this is a great way to soothe some of the discomfort. Sit behind the puppy and then support his chin with one hand and then stroke the outside of the mouth in another.
