Whoever said old dogs couldn’t learn new tricks must not have been traning them right! Contrary to popular opinion, it is still possible to train a pet that you may have gotten when he or she was older, and it is also possible to break the bad habits of your older pets and train them to do what is right!

In the case of housetraining, it may be easier to train older pets as they have more bladder control and suffer less urgency problems. You only need to consistently take him to the same spot outside every time he needs to go to the bathroom. Keep encourament and praise present at all times! To further bolster his confidence that he is doing the right them, reward your pets wiht a treat for a job well done! Make sure you give the treat immediately after your pet is done wih business, as you may be sending wrong signals if you give him the treat when you are already inside the house!
