If your dog is in danger of being overweight, there are some things that you can add to his daily routine to prevent this from happening! Help get your dog in shape by following these 5 simple activities.
1.Take your dog to the veterinarian- The vet can check if your dog’s weight gain is due to a health condition. The vet can also prescribe and recommend medication to help your dog lose weight.
2.Stop the snacks- refrain from giving your dogs scraps under the table, or feeding him little amounts of the food you eat at all times of the day.
3.Have the vet clear your dog for exercise- once the vet gives the go signal, you can start with taking your dog for short walks, or start playing short games of fetch. Increase the activity over time.
4. Why not get into a dog sport or activity- You can go backpacking with your dog, and maybe even skijoring, flyballing or play Frisbee.
5.Don’t forget to warm up and cool down your dog before and after exercise. This helps keep his muscles healthy and fit.
