Will your dog celebrate a birthday soon? Celebrate in true party style with a birthday cake made especially for your pooch! With a little effort, you can make it yourself! Here’s how!

You will need:

  • 1 1/2 cups All-Purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. Baking powder
  • 1/2 cup Margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup Corn oil
  • 1 Jar strained beef or liver baby food (2 1/2-ounce)
  • 4 Eggs
  • 3 Strips dog beef jerky, crumbled
  • Plain yogurt (for dogs) for icing

Here are the directions:

Sift flour and baking powder together and then set aside. In another  bowl, cream margarine until smooth using a mixer. Add in the corn oil, baby food and eggs; making sure to mix until smooth. Next,at low speed, gradually beat flour mixture into beef mixture until you come out with a smooth looking batter. Then, it’s time to fold in the beef jerky. Pour batter into well-greased and floured 8″x5″x3″ loaf pan. and bake in a preheated 325F. oven for about an hour and forty minutes. Cool the baked cake on a  wire rack a few minutes before removing from pan to cool completely. Make icing using the yogurt. Yield: 1 (8″) loaf cake.
