Control Barking and Growling
Is your dog’s barking and growling getting out of hand? Don’t worry, it is somewhat normal. Dogs growl and bark when they find themselves in new and unfamiliar situations.
They may be doing it because an unfamiliar person or animal is in their own territory. They may feel threatened by being separated from things they hold familiar and dear. They can even do it if they see potential food and prey!
The thing to remember is that our dogs growl when they are afraid or when they are trying to be assertive. If he feels that growling and barking betters the situation, you may find him doing this more often. Then that explains the out of control growling and barking!
It is best to control your dog to manage these potential problems. Give him a comforting rub, or his favorite treat, and of course, try to distract him! These are bound to work.
